Membership Categories

Regular
Regular membership is offered to practicing attorneys licensed in Maryland and other states. MAJ's dues structure is designed to be affordable for the greatest number of trial attorneys and is based on the date of first admission to the bar. To qualify for Regular membership, an attorney must attest that his/her personal injury and workers' compensation practice, and that of his/her firm's, involves less than 50% insurance defense work. Regular members have voting rights, may be elected to the Board of Governors, and enjoy access to all MAJ programs and services at discounted Regular Member rates.

Sustaining
Sustaining members annually contribute twice the Regular Member dues rate. This revenue helps to subsidize MAJ's affordability for law students and new lawyers. Sustaining members enjoy access to all MAJ programs and services at an additional 10% off Regular Member rates.

New Admittee
This membership is offered to those lawyers admitted to the Bar for less than one year, including admission to bars in other states.

Affiliate
Affiliate membership is offered to non-lawyer personnel working in a member's office. Associate members enjoy access to all MAJ programs at the discounted Regular Member rate with CLE seminars offered at a special discounted Affiliate Member rate.

Law Student
Any student enrolled in an accredited law school may be a member of MAJ.

Subscribing
Subscribing members, and/or their firms, may have more than 50% of their personal injury and workers' compensation practice devoted to insurance defense work. Subscribing members are limited in access to the full range of benefits available to other memberships. These members do not have voting rights and may not be elected to the Board of Governors. Subscribing members are prohibited from access to MAJ's Deposition Bank, Document Bank, the Listserv, and the Members area of the website. Other benefit restrictions may apply as determined by the Board of Governors.
